{"id":1616,"date":"2021-03-19T11:54:03","date_gmt":"2021-03-19T18:54:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paamucc.org\/?p=1616"},"modified":"2021-03-19T11:54:37","modified_gmt":"2021-03-19T18:54:37","slug":"hate-has-no-place-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paamucc.org\/2021\/03\/19\/hate-has-no-place-here\/","title":{"rendered":"Hate Has No Place Here!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Angry!\u00a0 Outraged!\u00a0 Upset!\u00a0 There are no words to reflect what is happening in our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. \u00a0Brutal attacks on the elderly and vulnerable are increasing.\u00a0 And these are not robberies.\u00a0 Just hate crimes and in broad daylight.\u00a0 The latest report from just one center monitoring AAPI crimes list over 3,700 incidents from March 2020 to February 2021.\u00a0 (<a href=\"https:\/\/secureservercdn.net\/104.238.69.231\/a1w.90d.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/210312-Stop-AAPI-Hate-National-Report-.pdf\">https:\/\/secureservercdn.net\/104.238.69.231\/a1w.90d.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/210312-Stop-AAPI-Hate-National-Report-.pdf<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Many bring up the fact that the previous administration encouraged this type of racial discrimination.\u00a0 \u201cKung Flu\u201d.\u00a0 \u201cChinese Virus\u201d.\u00a0 This might be true, but it is individuals who continue to perpetrate these crimes.\u00a0 And we, not only as Christians but also as human beings, need to stand up and support our AAPI community.\u00a0 Many have asked how they can help.\u00a0 Here is what is shared by Stop AAPI Hate:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Five Ways to Help If You Are Witnessing Hate<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take action. Approach the targeted person, introduce yourself and offer help.<\/li>\n<li>Actively listen. Ask before taking any action and respect the targeted person\u2019s wishes.\u00a0 Monitor the situation if needed.<\/li>\n<li>Ignore attacker. Using your discretion, attempt to calm the situation by using your voice, body language or distractions.<\/li>\n<li>If the situation escalates, invite the targeted person to join you in leaving.<\/li>\n<li>Offer emotional support.
